Abstract visual effect - Part 5

Here i have not done anything fancy as yet, i have simply duplicated the Calligraph layer 3 times and kept the Layer blend mode to Overlay. Also for each layer I have applied some transformation (Ctrl + T) Scaling a little, rotating, moving, so it can turn out into a good composition, you can experiment with the transformation, so that there is randomness in the end result. Since it is the same layer that has been duplicated so it should be transformed to bring out some good variations.

You can also use the Eraser tool and erase out certain parts which do not blend well at places after you scale, rotate etc.
In some case you might want to add Contrast/Brightness to the duplicated layer, or adjust the Hue/Saturation by going in the Image > Adjustments.

In this case, for layers Calligraph Copy 2, I erased out certain parts as they were appearing on the black background and not were not blending well with the layer below.

To add a little more visual interest and break the smoothness of the composition add a new layer and name it thin strokes.

Select the brush tool, and from the brush preset menu from the options tool bar at the top select a hard edge brush and keep the radius to 1.

Select a dark red color.
Draw random strokes as shown in the image.

Make sure the Thin Stroke Layer is selected, here i feel that a little grain on these strokes would be a nice addition. Hence I added some noise.

Filter > Noise > Add Noise…
Match your setting with ones as shown, if you do not get the desired results, you can adjust the setting according to your taste.

You can also adjust the brightness/contrast for the Thin Stroke layer as well.

I added some text, just to generate some more interest and meaning to the abstract artwork.
