Step 15
Now the really hard part. Press ‘P’ to activate the pen tool. We’re going to use this selection method to seperate the body of the car. Zoom in close, and with the pen tool click and drag down and to the left a little:
Step 16
Continue click dragging, following the outline of the car body. If you go wrong you can undo by pressing CRTL+Z, or you can edit it later. I’ve missed out the front bumper because I want to do it seperately.
Step 17
When you have gone full circle, close the path. Now go to the Paths panel and CRTL+Click the thumbnail to turn it into a selection (in this image I have hidden the background layers so you can see the path more clearly). Once you have it selected, the path will turn into dancing ants. In a minute we will make this a selection and paste it to another layer, but first we have to fix the rust and dirt in the Layer 1 Copy.
Step 18
Zoom in close and select the Clone tool, after first making sure you have the Layer 1 Copy layer highlighted. CRTL+Click the body layer to select it. Now when we clone it is impossible to go over the edge. Once you have done an area, use the Blur tool ‘R’ to smooth it out. The color doesn’t matter here as we are going to change it. Same with the shadows and highlights. Do all the car body.
Step 19
You can see here how we have gone over the windows. No problem. CRTL+Click the windows layer, and with the Layer 1 Copy hightlighted, press delete.
