Here’s what can be done with this tutorial:

Here is the original image:

Step 1

The first thing we need to do is select the Lasso tool ‘L’ and draw a rough hole. Make it as irregular as possible.

Step 2

Before we can modify the background layer, we need to unlock it. All you need do is double click the background layer and when the New Layer screen pops up, hit enter. The layer will now be unlocked and ready to change.

Step 3

This is a very simple step. Just hit delete to remove the selected sand.

Step 4

You now need to find another photograph of some rock. Try to find one that has a sheer side. Use the Lasso tool again to select a piece, then hit ‘V’ to activate the move tool and drag it onto your beach image.

In this new tutorial, I’ll show you how to take your old, banged up car and turn it into a new, mean babe attracting machine using Photoshop.

Here’s what we’ll see at the end of this tutorial:

Introduction

Does your car look something like this? Old, dented, badly sprayed and basically faling apart? Well with the help of Photoshop CS2, there’s still life in the old girl yet. We are going to seperate this job into three amin areas: The wheels, the windows and lastly the body.

Step 1

It’s always a good idea to make a copy of the background image, so the first thing to do is drag the background in the layers panel onto the new layer icon:

Step 2

Now we can focus on the wheels. Hit ‘Z’ to activate the zoom tool and get in close to the front wheel. First we will select the hub cap. Press ‘M’ for the Marquee tool. If you have the Marquee rectangle selected, hold the SHIFT key and press M again. Now roughly drag around the hub cap.

Step 3

Not very good, is it? Luckily, we can modify the selection. Go SELECT->TRANSFORM SELECTION. Now move the handlebars to get a good fit:

Step 4

Better. Now press enter to exit transform mode, and CRTL+J to paste the selection onto a new layer. Double click this layer in the layers panel and rename.

In this tutorial , we will look into how to make some abstract visual effects, mainly we will see how filters can be used with Layer Blend modes which turn out some great result.
Do remember, this is just a process, using the techniques explained below you can apply this to almost anything, here I will be using only brushes, you can use other elements too. Once you get the hang of how things work, you can experiment on your own, and use variations.

That’s what we should get at the end:

Open a new canvas, go to the File > New, you can also hold down the Ctrl key and double click in the empty space to get the New dialogue box.
You can use these settings or even make a larger canvas. For the purpose of this tutorial I am making a small sized canvas.

Click OK.

From the toolbar select the Bucket tool, and fill in black color. You can also press ALT+ Backspace, to fill in the foreground color.

Insert a new layer, open up the Layer Panel , either from Window > Layer or press F7, Click the create new layer button, rename the layer to Clouds. This Clouds Layer will be used to apply the cloud filter.

From the filter menu, Filter > Render > Clouds

This is what you should have in your Cloud Layer

In this tutorial, we will be looking as how to make use of elements from an image, isolate it neatly, and use it in some other place, for this we need to know about the selection methods. In the following tutorial, for this purpose we will learn how to use the Magnetic Lasso Tool. Also in this tutorial we will see how powerful the filters can be in changing the feel of an image, along with the blend modes of layers.
Do note that this is just a method, once you get the understanding, you can use these same techniques and methods and apply them else where. You can either use my values, or try your own, remember experimentation is a great way of learning, so feel free to explore!

We will be making a small brochure ad for a flower shop. I came across a flower picture I took last year(also included with this tutorial). I need to keep the ad i am making simple yet attractive. Keeping this in mind I landed on this flower image, knowing that the colors can be enhanced and livened up with the filters and power of photoshop.

Here’s how our final result should look:

Open a new canvas of size 1024 X 268 pixels, by going to File> New.

I have opened a picture of a flower I took some time ago, i like the flower here, since it has clean sharp edges and will work great with the magnetic lasso tool.

Once your required photo is opened, drag and drop it on to your canvas you opened earlier. Simply use the Move Tool (V) and start dragging from the picture to the canvas.

Incase the picture does not fit on the canvas completely, Scale it up by hitting the keys CTRL + T, hold down shift and drag from one of the four corner handles that appear.

Click the Magnetic lasso tool, by default the Lasso tool is visible, hence you will have to right click on this button and then chose the magnetic lasso. you can also press L to activate it , and then you can press SHIFT+ L to cycle all the tools that are in that category.

This is a very useful tutorial and can be used in many ways if you understand the main idea. So let’s get started.

Here’s the image we will draw:

1) Create a new document with dimensions 500 X 400 or so.

2) From the toolbox, choose the “Gradient Tool”, then click and drag on the Background Layer (The one that is initially created when you create a new document).
In my case I used the following colors:
