In this tutorial we gonna create a logo with a nice background. The word to be used is “wassim”. We will create everything from scractch.
This is a very useful tutorial and can be used in many ways if you understand the main idea. So let’s get started.
Here’s the image we will draw:
1) Create a new document with dimensions 500 X 400 or so.
2) From the toolbox, choose the “Gradient Tool”, then click and drag on the Background Layer (The one that is initially created when you create a new document).
In my case I used the following colors:
Foreground Color: #000000
Background Color: #9032ab.
3) Create a new Layer.
4) Select the “Brush Tool” from the toolbox, set the size to 90 then click anywhere on the document once. Use a white color.

first: This is sooo standerd, if someone uses photoshop the first time than this is exactly what he already can do (know it, done it, been there). So why would you create a tutorial on “how to do all the lower than what beginners can do stuff”. Seriously, I critisice alot, but this is a tutorial I can’t give more critic than: I’m sorry m8, but piss off with this lame shit and I hope you will do better in the future! but I dont think I will ever come back here again
its neat tut :) thanks man its really great i wait more from you and im happy cos im the frst who replay
It’s great that you submit tutorials for others to learn from, but it stinks that you use multiple web pages so you can get more page clicks. It’s all about the ad $$$.
J.Joker, you see the guy “ghawyy” here ? That answers your concern.
This tutorial is indeed in the basics category and yes, I do agree it’s not the best tutorial you can find in the internet. But still it’s useful to someone.
This is the first tutorial for this website and I usually start with worse and going to better tutorials. Check out the 3rd tutorial about the Flower ad, it’s definately better. And many more and better to come.
There’re so many shades of gray out there, man :)
ghawyy, enjoy and come back for more ;)
john, I create different pages for 2 things:
1. It’s easier to follow the tutorial that’s split to pages with 5 steps each
2. It’s easier to load for people with slower connections.
Seriously, you guys are thinking that the web is being made especially for you ? :) Some users still using dialup connections, some using GPRS, which isn’t too fast yet, etc.
As for the ad $$$, I get paid for clicks, not the impressions, if you ask me.
Cheers everyone!
Thanks mate for an excellent tutorial! For a photoshop noobie like me these kinds of stuff is perfect! Many tutorials are far to complicated, but this is perfect!
you are ROCK our ADMIN and you are great too never mind about wat they sorry f i said that but i like to share you my opinion about who say u do that for $$$
thank you again
1: I’ve been using PS for years now and have never thought to do something like this for a background.
2: A lot of us follow “basic” tutorials so we can teach ourselves other stuff as we go along.
3: Just like with the rest of the internet, if you don’t like something, navigate away. No one is forcing you to read anything.
Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks for the kind words, lemonbar77. You definately see my point :)
It’s very nice.
Nice tutorial, keep up the great work.
First of all congratulation for such a great site. I learned a lot reading article here today. I will make sure i visit this site once a day so i can learn more.
Hey Admin,
I think your site is great, never mind all the critics out there. 1st all, let me build a site themselves, I have and I program games all over the place for people in exchange for images and graphics. I wnated to learn PS myself, and this is a great place to start at. And I have been reading and visiting sites for 3 months now. I like the basics to advance style you have. Plus it also allows us to see the big picture for later images and graphics.
correction….” let them build a site for themselves “
Talk about conceited…… So what if it’s below your expectations at least he knows how to share. I think it’s pretty nice. So what if it’s for beginners…
Maybe the joker dude is only good in making not so funny jokes….
